Rusted metal in, paint-ready surface out
Brush RustGuard™ over sound rust, let it cure, then paint. Images are illustrative — results depend on surface condition and preparation.
Personal protection
- Nitrile gloves — the product stains skin and dries stubbornly
- Safety glasses, especially when working overhead or under a vehicle
- Long sleeves and old clothing; splashes will not wash out
- Ventilation when working inside a cabin, tank or enclosed space
- A dust mask during the wire-brushing stage, which is the genuinely dusty part
- Keep children and pets away from wet and curing surfaces

Spills, splashes and cleanup
- 01
On skin
Wash with soap and water promptly. Staining may persist for a day or two but is harmless.
- 02
In eyes
Rinse with clean water for 15 minutes and seek medical advice.
- 03
On a hard floor
Absorb with rags or granules while wet, then wash the area. Dried film needs mechanical removal.
- 04
Tools and brushes
Rinse with water immediately after use. Dried product will ruin a brush.
- 05
Empty containers
Rinse, then dispose of the bottle through your local recycling scheme where accepted.
Disposal
Do not pour unused product down a drain, into a watercourse or onto soil. Take liquid residue to a household hazardous waste or civic amenity site — most accept paints and coatings free of charge.
Small quantities can often be dried out on absorbent material and disposed of as solid waste, but check your local authority's guidance first, since rules vary by region.
Rags and absorbent material carrying wet product should be left to dry in a ventilated place, away from ignition sources, before being disposed of.
Frequently asked questions
Is it flammable?
The water-based formula is not readily flammable, but keep it away from ignition sources and follow the label.
Can I use it indoors?
Yes, with ventilation. Low odour makes indoor and cabin work practical in a way solvent products do not.
Is it safe around pets?
Keep animals away while wet and curing. Once fully cured and topcoated, treated surfaces are inert.
What if it freezes in transit or storage?
Do not use product that has frozen — the emulsion can break irreversibly. Contact support@getrustguard.com.
